What’s green sometimes, “blue” all of the time, and oh so golden?

CALIFORNIA baby!! Pop open the quarantinis because we are back!

Our home away from home back in Tulum was, of course, amazing, but there’s no place like the actual home. And by home, I am referring to our home on wheels. We are hyped up to be reunited with Trusty Dusty and Mr. Manny, and somehow, I think they’re hyped up to have their parents back too.

There’s no time like the present - that’s a saying you hear people say. That’s how people express sayings; they say them. But really. There is no time like this present time! The vaccines are flowing. The sun is shining, and Cali called us back at peak wildflower season.

And why shouldn’t it? You’ve read these stories. People “fleeing” to Austin and Portland. Young tech workers following their ethereal CEOs to Dallas and Miami to work out of their new home offices that overlook their pools and suburban paradises for the rest of their waking days. I mean, my god, California has lost a seat in the House of Representatives for the first time in its illustrious history. But you know what I say? God speed - More room in the poppy covered hills and salty, sunny coasts for the rest of us!

In spite of this apparent exodus, the Golden State is still golden, and she’s waking up after a looooooooong and hardcore coma.

There’s no better place to fall back in love with the West Coast Republic than in its Central Coast. San Luis Obispo - SLO - doesn’t have any wifi in its campgrounds, but what it lacks in scrolltivity it makes up with amazing hikes, delicious local food and a wine country that does not disappoint! How do the kids say it? It’s a vibe.

And it is so a vibe.

So let them flee. Let the rest of the country enjoy the company of the billionaires in hoodies; let them witness the glory of a Patagonia vest with a company name embroidered on it. By all means, enjoy the Blue Bottle coffee when it comes to your neighborhood. It is actually wonderful.

But we’re keeping the Nine Morro mountains to hike up and down.

We’re keeping the smoked fish tacos at Ruddel’s Fishouse.

We’re keeping the amazing made to order sandwiches at High St. Deli.

And we’re keeping the incredible wine at Paix Sur Terre! (Ok, well, I think they can probably ship that out to wherever you are).

There’s nothing quite like a welcome home party, and Cali is trying to out do herself as the hostess with the freakin’ mostess.
