In Search of Shenanigans
Denver never disappoints. That could be due to the plethora of breweries and bike lanes. Could be the fresh alpine air blowing in and around the parks and creeks and rivers that flow all around the city. OR, could be due to the fact that some of our best friends live there and let us take over their backyards and houses and lives for days at a time with any and all shenanigans that come to mind! The third thing…it’s probably the third thing and the other things are bonuses.
This time around in the Mile-High City, there were no brewery visits, and sadly the smoke from the Grizzly Creek Fire meant that the air wasn’t exactly comin’ in so fresh and so clean. But shenanigans are resilient creatures. You can find them even in less than ideal conditions. And so we did! With our new Crew House – brought to us graciously by our infinitely generous hosts Katy and DJ – and our new Crew Baby Cooper (also brought to us by the immeasurable effort of the Joneses) we were able to pull off a hearty handful of shenanigan-filled days.
There was the drive-to and sit back backyard movie, a nice long bike ride to Chatfield Reservoir (with a side trip for THE WORST burritos I have ever eaten in my life; truly! Whoever rated that pile of unsalted, non-spiced carnitas wrapped in a tortilla a 4.5 out of 5 “burrito,” know this – I will find you. I will find all of you. And you will endure a rant that will be the scariest part of your gringo eating mythology for generations to come), and even a little minor league home run derby. RIP to the wooden Louisville Slugger that DJ murdered swinging for the outfield. #NeverForget.
Never seems like we get enough time with the Crew. Lucky for us, we always know what backyard to find them in.
