Find some flannel
You know I think many of us look at the grunge bands of the 90s and think the flannel is just part of the look. You know, this sort of tattered, dark, lived in vibe. That’s what the flannel evokes. But we’ve spent the past 3 weeks in the PNW and I’ve now realized the flannel is just to freaking keep warm! It’s completely practical.
We have found some stone cold autumn and early-winter vibes people. Shall we call this a pumpkin spice alert?
The Pros -
Seattle brought us bike rides with Lisa and Jack!
There is Asian food here! Dear lord I have missed the curries of Malaysia, China, Thailand, and abroad.
We found Luke and Anna in the cutesy towns of Connors and Bayview!
Brandon and Kate have a perfect new house and tiny kitten named Nancy in Portland!
Madelyn and Michael surprised us for camping in Sisters!
We found The Wine Shop & Spider City Brewing in Bend a la Feliz and Jesse’s bday scavenger hunt.
Travis and Naomi gave us all the hot recs for the Oregon coast while we were in Eugene!
There are incredible wineries - Girardet and Freed Estate - tucked away in the tiny little Umpqua Valley. Coincidentally our storage cabinets in the trailer are starting to look a lot like a wine cellar.
We found a backyard brew party at Kantu Brewing, a “nano-brewer” near Tenmile, OR that cannot be missed if you find yourself driving to the Oregon coast on a Saturday.
The hot crab and shrimp sammy at Tony’s Crab Shack will change your life (in that you will only want to eat hot crab and shrimp sammies moving forward.)
The Cons -
Oh, there are none. It’s just cold so we wear our jackets and beanies all the time now. Luckily we never see the same people twice anymore so no one has any idea how played out our outfits are. We’re on the hunt for some flannel before we head over the border to Cali. Will keep you updated.
